Mainze
Mainze was held in the jail at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, when a crowd broke into the jail the morning after a violent death in the area, according to a Cincinnati Commercial report reprinted in the Daily Dispatch in August 1857. The crowd took him from the jail and hanged him from a tree near the prison.
