Mack Greer

40 years old · died June 15, 2026 · Tarrant County Jail, Tarrant County, Texas

Mack Greer, 46, was one of seven children, and his stepfather said he did not tolerate pain well. According to his family, he suffered serious head injuries while held at the Tarrant County Jail in June 2026 and was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where his family says he had a severe brain bleed and was declared brain dead. His family says he was released from jail custody on June 17, before he was taken off life support on June 18, and the sheriff's office disputed the timing of his death. The medical examiner lists his cause of death as complications of moyamoya disease, a natural cause, but his mother disputes this, saying he had no related medical issues since he was a teenager. His family says he could not have caused the injuries himself and wants answers, and Haltom City police were appointed to investigate.

Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness (disputed; neglect alleged). The medical examiner ruled the death due to complications of moyamoya disease, a natural cause, but his mother disputes this, saying he had no related medical issues since he was a teenager, and she was not notified of the cause or manner of death.

Reported by: Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office (medical examiner or coroner); his mother; his parents; Tarrant County Sheriff's Office (the agency that held him).
