Lynn Ludlow Pierson, 71, was held in the infirmary of the Central County Jail in Bartow, Florida, when he died on March 7, 2011. The Polk County Sheriff's Office said he choked on a hot dog, and that a nurse worked to clear his airway before emergency workers took him to Bartow Regional Medical Center, where he died.
