Luis Sanchez
Luis Sanchez, 41, died on April 5, 2026, at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was held. A corrections officer found him in medical distress around 6:19 p.m., and jail staff and UNM Hospital medical personnel tried to save him before he was pronounced dead at 6:51 p.m. The jail and sheriff's office describe an apparent suicide attempt, and the Office of the Medical Investigator will determine the official cause and manner of death. His lawyers say they saw no warning signs, and the death is under investigation by the jail's Office of Professional Standards with the Sheriff's Office.
