Died in jail or a lockup
Lucas Jensen
Lucas Jensen, 30, of Elizabeth City, died on October 18, 2023, while held at the Albemarle District Jail. The Pasquotank Sheriff's Office said jail staff found him hanging from a bed sheet in his cell at about 2:20 a.m., and that he was pronounced dead at the jail. The sheriff's office said it found no foul play. The state medical examiner's autopsy report is still pending, so the official cause of death has not been determined, and the state Division of Health Service Regulation's Jail and Detention Unit is also investigating.
