Louis Jonathan Fano
Louis Jonathan Fano was 27 and had bipolar disorder and symptoms of schizophrenia. He was held at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in early 2017. Sources say his antipsychotic medication was stopped after the jail changed to a private medical contractor, and that he was found hanging in his cell on February 5, 2017, and died in hospital. Warden Dennis Grimes and jail records describe the death as a suicide, and his family says the jail did not carry out the required monitoring checks for people on suicide watch.
