Lou Trenck
Louis Trensk was held in the jail at Brownstown, Indiana, in May 1893. Early on May 16 or 17, a mob that had come from Seymour by train broke into the jail, and sources differ on how it got in: one says the sheriff was away and the guard had no keys, another says the jailer was seized and searched for keys. The mob took him from his cell to the courthouse yard and hanged him from a tree. The coroner's verdict was that unknown persons did the hanging, and the accounts do not agree on the exact date or the number of men involved.
