Lizzie
Lizzie, a Black woman, was the wife of Andrew Jackson. On the morning of June 21, 1885, a mob took her from the jail at Elkhart, Texas, where she was being held, and hanged her from a tree. Five people were taken from the jail that morning. According to The Hickman Courier, the jail officials were powerless to stop the mob.
