Lisa Salgado

died June 2011 · David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center, Tulsa County, Oklahoma

Lisa Salgado was described by her sister as outgoing, friendly and a talented artist, a certified medical aide who would have made a wonderful great aunt. She had a long history of serious heart problems when she was held at the Tulsa County jail in 2011. Her estate's lawsuit says jail medical staff did not review abnormal heart test results, did not send her to a hospital as her symptoms worsened, and did not check on her during a 12-hour shift. The lawsuit says she was found dead in a medical cell after about four hours went unnoticed, and that staff later falsified records to suggest she died after an ambulance took her from the jail. The county and Sheriff's Office deny that her constitutional rights were violated.
