Link Waggoner was held in the Minden jail in Louisiana. On the night of Sunday, September 9, 1894, a large group of masked men broke into the jail and shot him many times, according to The Louisiana Populist. The paper reports that the mob had left the jail before the first residents who woke at the noise reached the scene.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Louisiana Populist reports that a masked mob broke open the Minden jail and shot Link Waggoner many times.
