Lingan
Gen. Lingon was held in the Baltimore jail in July 1812. The Enquirer, citing reports, said a mob returned to the jail, broke it open, went into the room where the prisoners were confined, and attacked them with clubs and other weapons, killing him and badly hurting several others. A later Evening Star account, quoting Hardy, places the attack on the Tuesday evening after the surrender, which was July 28, 1812. Hardy said the mob broke into the jail and killed him inside it.
