Executed
Lincoln Sprole
Lincoln Sprole was hanged at the Fort Smith jail on July 23, 1886, according to the Fort Worth Daily Gazette, which reported that he slept well the night before and ate a hearty breakfast. The paper said he spent the morning talking with people held at the jail, and before he was taken to the gallows he said farewell to them, was moved to tears, and several of them wept. A later Arkansas roundup of executions, printed in January 1887, also lists a Lincoln Sprole as hanged, though the month and place are unclear in that text.
