Levi McElroy, 37, was held at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility in California, where he was booked on July 19, 2026. According to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, a deputy found him having a medical emergency during a cell check early on July 21, and he was taken by ambulance to Providence St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office and a multi-agency critical incident team are investigating the circumstances, and the cause and manner of death are pending.
