Lester Bower
Lester Bower, 67, was executed by lethal injection by the State of Texas at the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville on June 3, 2015, and was pronounced dead about 18 minutes later, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Before his execution he thanked his lawyers and family, and in an interview with The Associated Press he said the 31 years had not been fun. He had maintained his innocence for three decades and had faced six earlier execution dates. His attorneys argued that others, not he, were responsible for the events of 1983 tied to his case, that jurors had not fully weighed the evidence at the punishment phase, and that the U.S. Supreme Court's refusal to intervene hours before the execution was the final rejection of their appeals.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. Bower maintained his innocence, and his attorneys argued that drug dealers, not him, were responsible for the crime.
Reported by: Texas Department of Criminal Justice (the agency that held him). The only account of how this person died comes from the agency that held him.
