Leroy Frazier Jr.

44 years old · died July 4, 2018 · Cumberland County Jail, Cumberland County, New Jersey

Leroy Frazier Jr. was a husband and father of five, and his wife, Donna Holley-Frazier, says the family wants justice for him. He was held at the Cumberland County Jail in New Jersey in late June 2018 and was sent to Inspira Medical Center, where he died on July 4, 2018, days before he was due to be released. The family, through their attorney Conrad Benedetto, has filed a notice of tort claim against the county and jail staff, alleging improper medical care and that they were not told he had been hospitalized. Cumberland County solicitor Theodore Baker disputes responsibility, saying Frazier repeatedly refused prescribed medication and his condition worsened, and the circumstances of his death remain under investigation.

Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined (disputed; neglect alleged). His family, through attorney Conrad Benedetto, alleges jail staff provided improper medical care and did not tell them he was hospitalized, while county solicitor Theodore Baker disputes responsibility and says he repeatedly refused prescribed medication.
