Leon Habson
Leon Habson, 58, died in the cell he shared with another person at Rutledge State Prison in Columbus, Georgia, on a Sunday in July 2024. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said Habson was pronounced dead on the scene and that he had been assaulted by his cellmate. Bryan also said photographs and scene evidence confirmed a homicide, but the official manner of death is listed as undetermined pending an autopsy by the GBI medical examiner. The Georgia Department of Corrections and other officials are investigating his death.
