Died in jail or a lockup
Leo Green
Leo Green was held in the jail at Queen City, Texas, when a mob took him from his cell and carried him to a spot outside town. According to The Record-Union, published October 27, 1891, he was chained to a tree before a large crowd of neighbors and burned to death on October 20, 1891. The mob's killing of a man in the custody of the jail is the account's central claim, and it is reported by a single 1891 newspaper.
