Lee W. Lawrence was 83 years old. A Voice of Detroit report by a man who knew him for decades describes him as a storyteller who told stories about his time in Cuba and growing up in St. Louis, and as a father proud of his daughter, the singer Billie Lawrence. The report says he had been held in a Michigan prison since the early 1970s and died there on December 27, 2020, from complications of COVID-19.
