Ledarius Peterson
Ledarius Jaquad Peterson was 23 years old and was held at the Jefferson County Jail while awaiting trial. At about 8:15 p.m. on a Wednesday in February 2019, another man beat him in a cell. Ledarius died at a hospital. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency investigated his death.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says Peterson was assaulted by another inmate in his cell, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating.
