Leander A. Shaw

Leander A. Shaw was being held at the jail in Montgomery, Alabama, when a mob attacked the building in July 1908 to take him. According to the Richmond Palladium and Sun-Telegram, the mob seized him, carried him to a public square, hanged him and shot his body many times. The report says one man was killed and a score were wounded in the attack.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Richmond Palladium and Sun-Telegram reported that a mob attacked the Montgomery, Alabama, jail, took Leander A. Shaw from custody, hanged him and shot his body many times.
