Died in jail or a lockup
Lawrence Bohnenkamp
Lawrence Bohnenkamp, 46, of Iowa City, died at the Johnson County Jail on March 11, 2026. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office said his body was found a little after 4 a.m. during a routine head count in his cell. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation with the sheriff's office, and an autopsy is being done at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. No cause of death has been announced.
