Laura Westmoreland
Laura Westmoreland was 51. She waited tables and answered phones at a car dealership, adored the son she had in 2001, and lived with her parents in DeSoto, where she loved journaling and watching cardinals. She was found unresponsive on the floor of her unit at the Dallas County jail on Nov. 4, 2025, ten days after she was booked. The autopsy found sepsis from a bowel obstruction, and a physician who reviewed it said her death was probably preventable with timely hospital care. Her family believes more should have been done for her.
