Lala See
Lala See, an American Indian man, was one of four men hanged on December 19, 1890, in the yard of the Missoula County jail in Montana, where he was held. A 1925 account by Will Cave, read to the Sons and Daughters of Montana Pioneers and reprinted in The Ronan Pioneer, says the sheriff carried out the hanging before invited guests and other onlookers, and that the men died about twenty minutes after the trap sprung. A Sacramento newspaper reported the hanging the next day. Later retrospectives, including a 1942 article, say the accounts of the case against these men are disputed and not independently verified.
