Kyle Gautney
Kyle Gautney died in June 2025, about a week after he was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center in Georgia. His widow says he was trying to turn his life around after learning his mother had stage-four cancer. Law enforcement said he died by suicide by hanging in his cell, but his widow disputes that conclusion and believes conditions inside the jail contributed. The sheriff's office said an internal affairs unit, rather than the state bureau, is handling the investigation, and autopsy results are pending.
Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide (disputed; neglect alleged). Law enforcement says he hanged himself in his cell, but his widow disputes that conclusion and says conditions inside the jail contributed to his death.
Reported by: Bibb County Law Enforcement Center (the agency that held him); his widow.
