Kuykendall
Kuykendall was held at the state penitentiary in Canon City. According to a newspaper dispatch published June 23, 1903, Kuykendall was shot and killed by guards on the morning of June 22, 1903, during an escape attempt at the prison. The dispatch reports that people held there overpowered guards at the wash house, seized the warden's wife, and blew up the front gates with dynamite before shooting broke out.
