Kurtis Peoples
Kurtis Peoples, 46, of Gary, Indiana, was found dead by jail staff in a shower cell at the Lake County Jail in Crown Point on December 11, 2018, around 2:50 p.m. He was alone in the cell when he was found. The Lake County sheriff's office said the death is being investigated by the Porter County coroner's office to avoid a conflict of interest. An autopsy was performed the next day, and the sheriff's office said the cause and manner of death are pending toxicology results, with officials saying foul play was not suspected.
