Kourtni Kerr
Kourtni Kerr was 31, the youngest of two daughters, and her mother, Barbara Kerr, remembers her as a child who could take things apart and put them back together. Kerr died on August 18, 2025, on the floor of a Warren Police Department lockup cell while she was waiting to be transferred to the Macomb County Jail. Police said routine cell checks found her unresponsive and that staff followed department protocol. Her family is asking whether she was denied medical attention and how long she called for help, which police dispute. Barbara Kerr said the police had a duty to protect her while she was in their custody, and the medical examiner's autopsy was still pending.
