Kingsley Fifi Bimpong

died November 19, 2024 · Dakota County Law Enforcement Center, Dakota County, Minnesota

Kingsley Fifi Bimpong, a man from Cottage Grove, died on November 19, 2024, after being taken to the Dakota County Jail following an arrest in Eagan. His next-of-kin say he showed stroke symptoms for hours while held there and did not receive an adequate medical response. He was taken to Regina Hospital, where he was declared brain dead, and died the following day. A wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family alleges deliberate indifference by officers and jail staff, and the county has declined to comment because the case is pending.

Cause of death, as reported: Died from neglect by staff (disputed). The Ramsey County Medical Examiner ruled the cause an intracerebral hemorrhage, while his family's wrongful death lawsuit says jail staff ignored hours of stroke symptoms and failed to give adequate medical response.

Reported by: Ramsey County Medical Examiner (medical examiner or coroner); next-of-kin wrongful death lawsuit (family or their lawyers).

Lawsuit: His family filed a wrongful death lawsuit alleging deliberate indifference by Eagan police and Dakota County Jail staff, and the case remains pending with no amount reported.
