Kenneth Hass
Kenneth Hass, 25, was a man his father remembers as athletic and fast, someone who loved running, climbing and hiking, and his sister Sierra was his best friend. Before his death he had often been without a home in Eugene and Lane County, and for months he was held in seclusion at Oregon State Hospital in Salem. On March 18, 2025, he fell from a toilet in his seclusion room and hit his head, according to a federal inspectors' report, and he died. That report found that staff did not respond quickly after he fell and that he was not checked for more than four minutes, and his family says the room was often filthy. His sister, now his legal guardian, has retained an attorney and filed a tort claim notice, and no lawsuit had been filed as of the article.
