Kenneth Gilchrist
Kenneth Gilchrist, 31, was held at Donaldson Correctional Facility in Alabama when he was stabbed during an altercation in his housing unit in July 2021. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, in an April 28, 2026 opinion as described by the Equal Justice Initiative, found that he died after being denied medical care for an extended period. The court's opinion, as the Equal Justice Initiative describes it, says camera footage shows a nurse and several correctional officers walking past him as he lay on the floor, and that he was left alone in a barbershop for about nineteen minutes before he stopped moving.
