Died in jail or a lockup
Kelton Bruce Ankeny
Kelton Bruce Ankeny, 18, was held at the Shasta County Jail in June 2020 and was taken to Shasta Regional Medical Center on June 30. The jail released him a few days later, and he died at the hospital on July 8. Capt. Gene Randall of the Shasta County Sheriff's office said the jail is investigating the circumstances and has referred to an 'incident at the jail', but has not said whether foul play is suspected. Reports were expected in about two weeks, and the cause and manner of death had not been announced.
