Kathy Burcham
Kathy Burcham, 52, of Sterrett, died at the Shelby County Jail in Alabama on May 21, 2022. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said officers doing cell checks found her in obvious medical distress in the jail's medical unit. The sheriff's office said its preliminary belief is a medical emergency, but the exact cause is still unknown. An independent review by the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office and an internal audit have been announced.
