Kathryn Schneider was 28 and from International Falls. She was found hanging in her cell at the Koochiching County Jail on March 25, 2014, and was taken to a hospital in Rainy Lake and then to Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, where she died. The Koochiching County Sheriff's Office described her death as an apparent suicide. The sheriff's office said a state Department of Corrections investigation would follow.
