Junior Garcia
Junior Garcia, 26, was a kindhearted, funny man and a father to a daughter, according to his family, who said he had planned to move to Caldwell to work in roofing and was excited to show his fiancée's kids how to draw and play sports. He was held at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution south of Boise, where the Ada County Prosecutor's Office said two other men held there beat him in the recreation area on June 14, 2023, and classified the death as a homicide. The Idaho Department of Corrections gave June 15 as the date of the assault and said he was declared dead at a Boise hospital on June 18. Idaho State Police are investigating the attack.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. The Idaho Department of Corrections said two other residents assaulted him, and the Ada County Prosecutor's Office says two other incarcerated men beat him to death in the recreation area.
