Juan Salazar-Lopez, 48, was a resident of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He died on June 19, 2025, while held at the Sebastian County Detention Center, where the sheriff's office said staff found him unresponsive in his cell and he was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital. The sheriff's office said no foul play is suspected, and it referred questions to Arkansas State Police, which is investigating along with an internal jail review.
