Jo'von Mitchell
Jo'von Mitchell, 31, died on December 27, 2019. He was found unresponsive in his cell at the St. Louis County Jail and taken to hospitals, where he died that morning. The county autopsy report and a county press release say he died of a brain hemorrhage related to a stroke, and that trauma and drug use were not causes. Advisory board members said they still do not know whether jail staff followed the new protocol for sick people held in the jail in his case.
