Executed
Josiah Potts
Josiah Potts and his wife, Elizabeth Potts, had been held in the jail in Elko, Nevada, for about eighteen months when they were executed by hanging together on June 20, 1890, in a yard between the courthouse and the jail. The Durham Recorder reported that on the scaffold he tried several times to clasp his wife's hand, and when she turned her eyes toward him the two shared a brief kiss before the drop. The same report says he maintained his innocence to the end.
