Joshua L. Peppers
Joshua L. Peppers, 39, was held at California State Prison, Los Angeles County, in Lancaster. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said another incarcerated person attacked him on a facility patio on the morning of March 7, 2025, and that staff responded with chemical agents and non-lethal weapons. The department said he was taken to an outside hospital, where he was pronounced dead, and it is investigating the death as a homicide. A later report said an improvised weapon was found at the scene, and the Los Angeles County Coroner will determine the official cause of death.
