Josh Sandoval
Josh Sandoval, 43, died on February 5, 2026, at University of New Mexico Hospital, where he had been taken from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Bernalillo County. According to jail spokesperson Candace Hopkins, he was found in distress in the jail's E Unit and had been at the hospital since the previous day, and the jail said it appears he attempted suicide. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office and the jail's Office of Professional Standards are investigating, and the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator will determine the official cause of death.
