Josh Alvaro Sandoval
Josh Sandoval, 43, died on February 5, 2026, at University of New Mexico Hospital after being found in distress in the E Unit of the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center, where he had been held. He had been at the hospital since the previous day. The jail said it appears he attempted suicide, and the sheriff's office and the jail's Office of Professional Standards are investigating. The New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator will determine the official cause of death.
