Joseph Russell
Joseph Ronald Russell, 49, of Jacksonville, died on July 29, 2026, after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Cherokee County Jail in Texas, according to a state death report and the sheriff's office. Jail staff began lifesaving measures, and emergency personnel took him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A justice of the peace ordered an autopsy, and the Texas Rangers are investigating. The cause and manner of death have not been determined.
