Joseph Laverne Sturdivant Jr., 32, died on March 17, 2016, while held at the Adams County jail in Natchez, Mississippi. The Adams County Sheriff's Office said he was hanging by his neck from a handmade rope in his cell and that he was alone there at the time. The sheriff's office said the rope appeared to have been made from a bed sheet.
