Joseph Gaines, 57, died on March 23, 2023, while held at Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County, Alabama. Staff found him unresponsive in his dorm. The Alabama Political Reporter reported his death on April 7, 2023, and gave no cause or manner of death.
