Joseph G. Miles, 50, died on July 21, 2018, about five weeks after he was sent from the Union County jail to a state prison hospital for care. Union County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tony Underwood was the official source for the account of his death. The sheriff's office has not given a cause of death, and the circumstances of his death are not described.
