Joseph Fudleo

Madison Parish, Louisiana

Joseph Fudicio was one of three Italian men held in the jail at Tallulah, Louisiana, in August 1899. According to an Italian government report forwarded to the State Department, a mob took him and another man from the officers holding them and lynched them, and returned later for the third prisoner. The report described the killing as an act of unusual atrocity. State authorities and an Italian embassy representative reached different conclusions about the men's citizenship, and a federal inquiry was still under way in December 1899.
