Jose Luis Flores Aca
Jose Luis Flores Aca of Plover died on July 6, 2014, when he was found hanging in his cell at the Portage County Jail in Stevens Point at about 11:30 p.m. The sheriff's office said he was not on suicide watch and that there was no indication he was contemplating suicide. Portage County Chief Deputy Dan Kontos said he hanged himself with torn bed sheets and a screw taken from a keyhole. The sheriff's office said a Stevens Point Police Department report found jail staff followed procedures, while the Wisconsin Department of Corrections opened its own investigation. A 2016 account said a state review found the jail did nothing wrong in watching over him.
