Jordyn M. Charity, 20, died on January 7, 2018, while held at Red Onion State Prison in Pound, Virginia. The Virginia Department of Corrections said the death was an apparent suicide. The state medical examiner's office had not yet released an official cause or manner of death. The Charlottesville Legal Aid Justice Center said it still receives complaints from people held at the prison, and it was unclear whether Charity had been held in solitary confinement.
