Jordan Davidson
Jordan Davidson was 22 when he entered the Gwinnett County Jail in January 2021, and his mother says he had no known disabilities at the time. According to her lawsuit against NaphCare, the jail's medical contractor, he lost the use of his arms and legs over the following months and repeatedly asked medical staff for help, but his family says the cause was not diagnosed. The sheriff's office took him to Northside Hospital Gwinnett in June 2021, where a tumor on his cervical spine was later found, and the sheriff's office says he had been released on bond before he died there in January 2022. His mother's claim that his quadriplegia and delayed care led to his death is disputed; NaphCare and the sheriff's office did not respond to requests for comment.
Cause of death, as reported: Died from neglect by staff. Davidson's mother's lawsuit says NaphCare staff ignored his requests for help and delayed diagnosis of a spinal tumor that left him quadriplegic, and the sheriff's office says he had been released on bond before he died at the hospital.
Reported by: Davidson's mother, in a lawsuit against NaphCare and its employees (family or their lawyers); Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office (the agency that held him).
Lawsuit: His mother sued NaphCare and its employees over delayed medical care at the Gwinnett County Jail, and no settlement or award amount is reported.
