Jones Nelson
Jones Nelson was held in the custody of the sheriff at Arapahoe when a mob took him from the sheriff, according to a dispatch published December 22, 1884. The dispatch says the Regulators hanged him on Friday, December 19, 1884, shot his body and cut his throat. The dispatch does not say whether the sheriff resisted, gave up the keys or handed him over.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A December 1884 newspaper dispatch reports that the Regulators took Jones Nelson from the sheriff, hanged him, shot his body and cut his throat.
