Jones

Jones was held in the jail at Monticello, Arkansas, when about twenty-five men broke down the jail door in the early hours of Wednesday, August 21, 1895. The men took Jones from the jail and hanged Jones from a tree not far from town. Jones's body was found there the next morning.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. According to the newspaper account, about twenty-five men broke down the door of the Monticello, Arkansas, jail, took Jones and hanged him.
